Hi, I'm Holly
I am SO happy that you’ve come across my little corner of the internet. Please take your time to look around at what I have to offer. I'll start by telling you a little about myself.
I am a positive, passionate and creative primary teacher and tutor. With over 13 years of teaching experience, my approach is very much child-centred and inquiry based. I adapt my teaching methods to cater for your child's unique learning style. Not only will this boost their academic attainment, but will also develop their self confidence, emotional wellbeing and self belief in education, which is a very important part of my practice.
More than just a tutor...
While I wear many hats - daughter, sister, friend, artist, and business woman - my heart belongs to being a mother and passionate educator. My incredible little boy has shown me the magic of learning, and I strive to ignite that same spark in every child I meet.
Since graduating with honors from Lancaster University in 2009, I've spent over a decade in Manchester's primary schools. I've collaborated with inspiring colleagues, learned from amazing head teachers, and had the privilege of guiding hundreds of children on their learning journeys.
Teaching is more than just a job; it's my canvas. I bring my creativity to life through engaging lessons that ignite curiosity and fuel progress. Witnessing those "aha!" moments and seeing children blossom is what truly sets my soul on fire. There's simply no other path I'd choose.
From Teacher to Tutor: My journey...
At 15, the spark ignited: I'd be a primary school teacher. Seven years later, I held that dream in my hands, diving headfirst into a journey fueled by passion. Teaching wasn't just a job, it was a love affair with the classroom, the laughter, the "aha!" moments.
Anyone who knows me can attest – primary teaching was my element. Glowing reports from leaders, subject coordination, and leading parental engagement initiatives – I thrived. But deep down, a yearning for a different kind of education lingered. That's where tutoring entered the picture.
Years ago, a tutoring intervention program ignited a second spark. The flexibility, the personal connections, the joy of witnessing children blossom with confidence – it was magic. The chance for focused 1:1 time, truly impacting a child's life, filled me with purpose.
So, here I am, ready to share my passion as a tutor. I'm not just a teacher; I'm a guide, a cheerleader, a champion for every child's potential. Let's embark on this journey together, unlocking the magic of learning, one child at a time.
"Everyone is a genius. But if you judge a fish by it's ability to climb a tree, it will live it's whole life believing that it is stupid."
Albert Einstein
This is one of my favourite quotes in education. Sadly, this quote is reminiscent of today's education system. It is therefore so important to remind children that we all have something to offer the world. Confidence and self-belief are the foundations for success, not only in academic attainment, but in life. Read more about this on my blog.
